Shrimal Liyanage

The determination and the desire for social work was the motivating factor which is consistently creating many colors in Shrimal’s life. Stating from mini projects he carried away large scale projects such as mushroom projects especially created for youth employment in the Hambanthota region. He also undertook book distribution campaign for under privileged students which has created significant social change. His commitment to community service and the skills he obtained from SLYP have placed him in his present position as dynamic role model for youth activists in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.Further, these skills have also helped him to progress rapidly in his chosen career.
His overall objective was to create Poverty Alleviation Program, by helping people obtain employment and supporting employment generation. He has implemented a massive number of different projects, to help unemployed youth to improve their skills and knowledge in different areas. This has also helped them to be more prepared and competitive in seeking employment.
He had implemented a project to conduct Career Guidance and Skills Development for Youth in the Hambantota District.

Cant the vocational training institutes in SL work hand in hand with people like Shrimal so each one (the institute as well as Shrimal, in this case) mutually benefit? Shrilmal can get access to the libraries and the resources available, where as the institutions get access to a great network to reach people…
